This promotion targets both the Greek community and the University of Piraeus environment, as well as the global scientific community, in order to highlight the laboratory's research activity (and, by extension, that of the Department of Informatics at the University of Piraeus, to which the laboratory belongs) as a significant force in the international "research landscape."
The Director of the Laboratory is Professor Maria Virvou, and the Head of the "Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis" Research Group is Professor George Tsihrintzis. The Laboratory's personnel comprises 6 Faculty members (Teaching and Research Staff - DEP), 14 PhD candidates, and 10 postdoctoral researchers. The Laboratory has successfully completed over 10 Research and Development (R&D) projects. Its members have published 15 monographs and more than 600 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. Additionally, they have edited 14 special issues of international journals and have supervised 15 completed PhD dissertations.
