General Information – Postgraduate Programs
The Department of Informatics of the University of Piraeus organizes and operates four postgraduate programs:
- MSc "Advanced Computer Systems – Software Development and Artificial Intelligence"
- MSc "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT and Advanced Digital Technologies"
- MSc "Cybersecurity and Data Science"
- MSc "Informatics"
The Postgraduate Program "Advanced Computer Systems – Software Development and Artificial Intelligence" aims to foster the coordinated development and organization of research directions in Computer Science and Emerging Technologies, particularly those representing high-priority sectors for our country. "Advanced Computer Systems – Software Development and Artificial Intelligence" focuses exclusively on the most advanced scientific issues in the field of Informatics and modern technology. The curriculum and overall profile of the program have been strategically designed to effectively meet the specific scientific demands arising from the rapid evolution of Computer Science and Emerging Technologies at both a European and international level.
Both compulsory courses and elective courses have been selected to provide the postgraduate student with the expertise required by the latest technological developments in the field of Information Technology, in combination with the particular characteristics and needs of modern Greek and European Economy and Digital Agenda.
The Postgraduate Program "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT and Advanced Digital Technologies" aims to foster the coordinated development and organization of research directions in the science of Emerging Technologies, particularly those representing high-priority sectors for our country, such as Digital Culture, Smart Cities, the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as Modern Communications and Digital Technologies.
The program awards a Master of Science (MSc) degree in "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT and Advanced Digital Technologies" with the following three (3) specializations (tracks): "Digital Culture", "Smart Cities and Advanced Digital Technologies", and "Internet of Things (IoT) and Advanced Digital Technologies". The Postgraduate Program is addressed to graduates from diverse academic backgrounds.
The Postgraduate Program "Cybersecurity and Data Science" aims to train and educate young scientists in the scientific fields of Network and Systems Security, Distributed and Computing Systems, as well as Business Analytics and Emerging Information Technologies and Services.
The objective of the program is the scientific and technological training of Higher Education Institution (HEI) graduates in Informatics, Telecommunications, and related fields, focusing on areas of Computer Science that exhibit rapid scientific advancement, high momentum, and a continuously growing demand in the European and global labor market, as mentioned above. This aims to cultivate well-trained and skilled scientists and researchers who will drive the development of the country and Greek enterprises within the framework of the Information Society.
The Postgraduate Program "Informatics" aims to provide comprehensive and high-level education to Higher Education Institution (HEI and TEI) graduates from various scientific disciplines, focusing on the principles and methodologies of applying modern Computer Science.
The MSc in "Informatics" cure modern technology issues and applications of computer science in other modern sciences. The content and character of the program is configured to respond successfully to the specific scientific needs arising from the rapid development of Information and applications at European and international level.
