The Certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence certifies:

That graduates who intend to pursue a career in education possess certified pedagogical and teaching competence, {which, pursuant to Law 3848/2010 (Government Gazette A/71) Article 2 par. 2, became a necessary prerequisite for participating in ASEP competitions to compile the educator ranking list for appointment or recruitment in public primary and secondary education, as well as Law 4547/2018 (Government Gazette A 102/2018) Article 111, which amends par. 3 of Article 2 of Law 3848/2010}.

The Senate of the University of Piraeus, according to its decision dated 27/06/2019, approved the proposed Curriculum of the Department of Informatics, ruling that it meets the requirements for the certification of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence of its graduates. The Certificate will be awarded concurrently with the degree to students who, during their undergraduate studies, select and successfully complete the courses of the "Certificate of Competence".

The Certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence includes:

•   Interested candidates must attend and successfully pass six out of the eight offered courses.

•   The selection of courses that count toward the final degree grade should not be linked to the potential acquisition of the competence certificate, but must be decided by the student through a declaration submitted to the Department Secretariat during the graduation application phase.

Courses are selected:

•   According to student preference and without any restrictions, these courses can either count as their standard semester electives or, if they wish, be selected by students in addition to the elective courses strictly required for graduation.

•   The selection of courses that count toward the final degree grade should not be linked to the potential acquisition of the competence certificate, but must be decided by the student through a declaration submitted to the Department Secretariat during the graduation application phase. Any extra courses will be added to the Diploma Supplement.

•   Yes, you can.

•   Special provision is made to ensure that students from previous academic years are not excluded. Starting from their 3rd semester, students are granted the option to declare extra courses in each semester.^. from the 3rd to the 8th semester.^..

The Certificate is awarded concurrently with the degree to those students who have selected and successfully passed the courses required for the Certificate, as described above.

Students of the Department must submit an application to the Secretariat during the graduation application phase in order to be awarded the Certificate as well. If they have taken extra courses beyond the curriculum, they must specify in their application which courses they wish to be included in their Grade Point Average (GPA); the remaining courses will be recorded in the Diploma Supplement.

•   Yes.

•   ECTS credits also count toward the degree, in accordance with the provisions of the Department Academic Regulations for each course.
Be careful: The only exception is courses selected by the student in addition to the standard semester courses. These ECTS credits are recorded in the Diploma Supplement and are over and above the 240 ECTS credits required for graduation.
